Fitness goals can often seem harder to reach and manage than other life goals that we may have. Whether this is due to the fact that many of us approach fitness as a side project rather than a key focus or because it takes far more physical and mental energy to follow through on workouts, finding the motivation necessary to stay fit is not an easy feat.

That said, you don’t have to let your fitness goals fall to the wayside. Instead, let’s walk through some of the steps you can take to build your motivation and keep that momentum, no matter what your fitness goals may be!

1. Make Sure to Develop Goals That You Are Excited About

A majority of people who begin their fitness journey do so out of the belief that they are obligated to be fit. While fitness in life is not a requirement, it is something that you should take seriously if you want to lead a healthier lifestyle. That said, it is human nature to resist doing something that you aren’t fully invested in.

The solution?

Rather than hoping that you will be in the mood to exercise regularly, develop some fitness goals that you are truly excited about. Whether that is losing weight, building muscle, or simply leading a healthier and happier lifestyle, find what you are passionate about and pursue it. If you rely on self-discipline to carry you forward when you begin, you are more than likely to fall behind rather quickly. Instead, focus on finding goals that excite you. Self-discipline will be cultivated over time.

2. Create Accountability for Yourself

It can be easy to skip out on your own goals when you are the only one involved in your efforts. Find someone who can work out with you so that you have the motivation to make sure that you are not letting them down in the process (this can work with groups as well). If you don’t have anyone to work out with, advertise your desire to make working out a priority to close friends, family, or even on social media. You can also schedule workouts with a personal trainer if you feel like you are going to skip out on your workouts. Knowing that someone else is expecting you to achieve your goals is a huge motivator.

3. Find Ways to Make Your Workouts More Exciting

Those who have a passion for working out find it exciting no matter what they may be doing. For those who find working out difficult, the key to success lies in how you decide to approach your chosen activity. Rather than allowing yourself to fall into a rut as you pursue the same kinds of workouts, make sure to switch up your routine regularly, work out in new locations, and cultivate playlists that keep you excited and motivated on the exercise at hand. You may even choose to reward yourself in a small way after completing a set of workouts. No matter what gets you up and ready to go, use that to your advantage when you feel your motivation starting to slip.

In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, getting to the gym is not possible. However, that doesn’t mean that you have to give up on your fitness goals. Here at WellBe, we have two excellent offers that you can use in the comfort of your own home.

Our first partnership is with Fiit, the number one fitness app that will help you work out from home with ease. Fiit understands that finding the motivation to get up and go to the gym can be difficult, so they bring the entire experience to you. With a host of classes from HIIT to yoga and the opportunity to exercise with major personal trainers like celebrity trainer Tryronne Brennand and Adidas ambassador Adrienne Herbert (added to the fact that you can connect your app to your TV), it is no wonder why Fiit is a hit. If you’re looking to jumpstart your fitness efforts, you can easily sign up here with the code ‘WELLBE25’.

If you prefer to listen to your workouts, you can also take advantage of our Auro partnership. Auro is an audio fitness app that gives users access to hundreds of audio workouts that can be done at home or outside. Whether you’re into HIIT, yoga, or running, you are guaranteed to find it on Auro and boost your fitness motivation in the process. Just sign up with the code ‘wellbe’ to get 30 days of free unlimited workouts on the app.

While finding the motivation to workout can be difficult, it is certainly doable (and will get easier over time). If you struggle to find and maintain motivation to work out, use the tips above to start your fitness journey off on the right foot, and keep it going strong!
